Blogs & Journals

This post will include all the blogs and any other pieces of work I used or found useful to do throughout the semester. The blog’s purpose was so I could read a text then summarize, reflect, and respond to them. The blogs focused on plagiarism, genre, and annotating, how to reach certain audiences, and how to use our sources more effectively. The readings for this blog were very interesting. Together they helped me to improve my writing skills in several ways such as learning how to properly cite, how to write to a certain audience, and how to effectively write my ideas.
The journals we wrote were extremely helpful. It helped us implement new skills we had just learned into smaller portions. These small assignments were the base of our projects. The journals were a very effective way to begin our projects because it made us brainstorm. It made the projects so much easier to start. Below are my blogs and most of my journals.

Project Three

My third project focused on raising awareness about the truth of human trafficking to different audiences. First I created a poster geared towards Americans demonstrating that human trafficking is not just a third world issue but it happen really close to home as well.  The poster will inform its audience that human trafficking is not only an issue in India but in Miami as well. The poser also references back to my blog where they can learn more about human trafficking.  The second piece was geared towards teenage girls. I created a BuzzFeed article about 9 warning signs of a potential human trafficker or pimp. BuzzFeed can be shared through social networks where most teenagers communicate so it would reach much more teenagers if it was just an essay or a anything of that sort.  Together both pieces to the project reach different audiences with the same message. This post will include any and all work related to my third project.

Project Two

My second project focused more on research on human trafficking and  used what I found to inform others about human trafficking more specifically the sex slave industry. For this project I chose to do a blog where I answered common question people may have about human trafficking. I gave examples and provided visuals for my audience to see. The blog also talked about the misconceptions of human trafficking. The main one being that first world countries relates human trafficking and the sex slave industry with third world countries. The narratives in the blog can help the reader know various forms of human trafficking. All my project two work and drafts are included in this post.

Project One

My first project analyzed the way genre is used in human trafficking. For instance I analyzed narratives in article and letter form on a website. Each article had certain characteristics that made the narrative more effective while the letter had a more emotional appeal but had the same purpose which was to raise awareness and initiate change in the way we combat human trafficking. Throughout project one I compared and contrasted Ayesha’s, Trisha’s, and MC’s narratives for genre conventions. This project helped me see the information that I already knew in a different perspective. All my work for Project one has been included in this post.

My portfolio Overview

My area of expertise is human trafficking. I am familiar with most of its forms, but for this project I will focus on one of the most prominent forms – the sex slave industry. In this blog I will show the work and research I have done throughout the semester regarding human trafficking. Also, I will focus on describing in what ways women become victims and how they are targeted. I will describe how technology has facilitated human trafficking among the years. This blog will also analyze the stories of the survivors and what happened after they escaped. The purpose of this project is to raise awareness and give a realistic overview of how much grasp human trafficking really has. My portfolio will explore the many genres used to send a message across about human trafficking. Each post will have everything relatable to my first, second, and final project.
